This appliquéd and pieced quilt uses cotton fabrics and is 104 1/2" x 100". The top of this quilt consists of three muslin panels with 6" hexagon mosaic units that have been pieced and then appliquéd onto the muslin panels. The hexagons are of early prints with some showing evidence of overdyeing of blue and yellow to create green.
A border measuring 7 1/2" wide is of a floral print. The backing was brought to the front as the edging. Attached to the edging on three sides is hand-made fringe. A label attached to the backing is from the Virginia Quilt Project, dated March 30, 1991.
The quilting consists of double outline in hexagons, then quilted around the unit. A zig-zag design was used for the muslin background. Straight lines form triangles on the border.Context
