Hand pieced and hand quilted. Pieced basket/cakestand pattern set on point with alternating plain red blocks arranged into a 7 x 7 grid, creating a total of 49 basket blocks. A single, pieced 2.5 - 3 inch red border surrounds the blocks on two sides (left and right). The quilt is finished with a 0.5 inch white binding brought from the back to the front with straight edges and squared corners. The binding was done with a machine.
The backing is composed of three horizontal strips of muslin fabric. It is a very thin fabric and loosely woven (may be later than the top). There does not appear to be any batting.
The quilt is hand quilted using single, white cotton thread. The entire quilt is quilted in parallel lines.
