Hand pieced and hand quilted with no batting. The tan and pink prints form a design with a large outer sawtooth border and a smaller interior sawtooth border. The quilt has a white flannel backing. Quilting was done with parallel lines, and the blocks were set with cross hatched designs.
There is a double pieced border. The first border is about 3/4'' and is navy and white. The second border is 3'' and is white with blue check and black check fabric.
Likely a new/scrap fabric quilt.
The backing, of the quilt is composed of 2 strips that measure, 11'' and 21 1/2''. It is a solid white flannel fabric. The binding is brought from back to front, with squared corners. The top and bottom binding measures 1/4'' and the binding on the side measures 1/2''.
No batting.
Quilting is all hand done. The stitches are uneven and about 7-9 stiches per inch. It consists of straight lines done in diamond and is quilted with single, white, cotton thread.Context
This was a family heirloom from Nokesville, Virginia. One of the other quilts donated with this crib quilt was a larger version of this quilt that used the same fabrics.Collection
