Thirty Pine Burr blocks compose this pieced quilt. All white diamonds surround the pine burr blocks. A single border (about 1 1/4'' wide) made up of blue and white triangles frames the quilt. This border was likely replaced with new fabric and backing. Instead of an added binding, the quilt is finished with a knife edge and mitered corners.
The back features 2 panels of solid cotton fabric. Deterioration on the front has led through to the back. There is a thick, cotton batting.
The entire quilt is hand quilted using single, white, cotton thread. The stitches are uneven, but measure about 6 stitches per inch. The quilting itself is echo quilting that contains straight lines and follows the top design.Context
