Description

Pieced and appliquéd quilt worked in colors of red, green, gold, cheddar, and maroon on a cream background. It is a variation of the New York Beauty. It contains 64 quarter circle fan blocks separated by appliqué flowers and sashing with curved corner posts. White binding was appliquéd separately. Hand quilted.

Context

The quilt is attributed to Elizabeth Ann Bushong of New Market, Virginia. It was a sister quilt at the Virginia Museum of the Civil War in New Market, Virginia. Both quilts contain the same motifs and paisley fabrics.
