Square, 9 block quilt with red and green appliqué. The blocks are set into a grid with no sashing or alternating blocks. A single, 8.5 inch appliqued border surrounds the blocks and features an undulating vine with single coxcomb and berry motif.
Hand quilting is present on green coxcombs, as well as white background. There is a little leaf motif within each green coxcomb. The rest of the quilt is quilted in a crosshatch design. The stitches are fairly dense at 10 stitches per inch.
The quilt is finished with a 0.25 inch white binding, brought from the back to the front with straight edges and square corners. The back is pieced together with 5 pieces of solid, white cotton fabric. The batting is a thin cotton.
It was likely all purchased/new fabric. It has faded very evenly.Context
