This Log Cabin quilt is 86" x 87 1/4" and made with cotton fabric. It uses red, white, blue, and green colors, which are arranged in the sunshine and shadows setting. The 36 blocks measure 13" x 14", some are 12" x 13" and are comprised of "logs" 1 1/4" wide. The quilt is bordered by a red/black check measured 2 1/2" wide. The backing is a large scale print in green cretonne and is brought to the front to form the 1/4'' wide binding with square corners.
The batting is thick cotton. The quilt itself is hand quilted with large stitches using black thread. It was done in the stitch in the ditch method - line quilting. Each center square has an "x" stitched into it.Context
