Contains 96 six-inch blocks. Pieced with purchased solids and prints in blue and white. The blocks are situated into a grid, with no sashing or alternating blocks. On two sides, there is a 2.5 - 3 inch border made out of same same blue printed fabric as the blocks. The quilt is hand-quilted with 8 stitches per inch. The quilting follows the top design of the blocks, with simple outlines while the quilting in the border is done in diagonal lines.
The 0.75 inch white binding is brought from the back to the front on three sides of the quilt. Along the right edge, the quilt is finished with a knife edge binding. The batting is very thin cotton with seeds.
The back is made up of 2 vertical strips of homespun fabric.
*There was previous patch repair work on the back and front, suggesting holes.Context
Quilt was made near Staunton, Virginia, but that is all that is known. It was possibly made by Mary L. Harner. It contains many embroidered inscriptions.Collection
