2016.009.005Description
This quilt contains alternating eight-pointed star design and a pinwheel design. Each block measures roughly 6.25 inches by 6.75 inches and are arranged into a grid of 9 x 10 for a total of 90 blocks. Each block is framed with 1.25 inch sashing. A total of 4 different borders finish off the quilt. The first is a 1.25 inch faded green/tan fabric, followed by a 3 - 3.5 inch border composed of diamonds, followed by a 1.5 inch "purple" floral that has faded, and finished with a 1 inch plain white.
The binding is 0.25 inch homespun fabric brought from the back to the front by hand with square corners. The batting is a thin cotton. The quilting is uneven, potentially done by two different hands at 8 stitches per inch. It has outlining, straight lines, and a grid within the pinwheel blocks.
The back is made up of 3 vertical strips of solid homespun fabric.Collection
