Description

12 Feathered Stars are set side by side into a 3x4 configuration (12 total) with 5'' white sashing. Each of the 17'' blocks are identically constructed with green, red, and white cotton. Crossed leaves are featured inside the feathered star with appliqued buds in each corner. White 5-1/4'' sashing separates each block and a single 5.5-6.5'' border of undulating green vines and appliqued red flowers. The backing is a coarse muslin (3 strips of fabric) and finished with a 1/8'' back to front binding with squared corners. Entirely hand pieced, hand quilted, and hand appliqued. Densely quilted with stippling in blocks, feathers in the sashing and echo quilting in the border. Thin, cotton batting. Part of the Virginia Quilt Documentation Project ID#R2-10, 4-29-89
