A medallion style album quilt. An appliqued basket holding the "Martin" bible is surrounded by an appliqued grape vine wreath and framed with a sawtooth border made of half square triangles. This center square is surrounded by 2 rows of various album blocks (40 total), including one one with the Washington Monument and a branch of cherry blossoms, as well as a block depicting the statue of liberty. These blocks contain reverse applique and embroidery. At the top, one block includes the inscription "June 24, 1961 - Robert Edward Martin and Emily Linton Snyder" and an outline of their silhouettes. The blocks are set in a grid and framed with a single, appliqued border (9-1/2'' wide). It features another sawtooth border and finished with a hand appliqued undulating grape vine with leaves, various birds, and a frog. The binding is 1/4'' wide and uses red fabric, applied by hand with straight edges and mitered corners.
The entire quilt is hand appliqued and hand quilted using single, cotton, cream colored thread. It is quilted all over in diagonal parallel lines, along with feathered wreaths/plum motifs.
The backing is composed of 3 strips of printed cotton fabric, measuring 29-1/4'', 41-1/4'', and 30-1/4''. The batting is a thick cotton.Acquisition
