The winners of Dumfries annual Christmas Parade held last Saterday are:
Best Christmas-theme float: 1st place-little Union Baptist Church, 2nd place Virginia National Bank. The Best over-all Float: 1st place Triangle Brownine Troop 1711, 2nd place- WPWC Radio (Star wars Float). Best marching youth group: 1st place White Star Majorettes, 2nd place Spotsylvania sparkets. Best band: U.S. Marine Corp Band. A special Grand Marshal Award Trophy was given to Raymond "Cousin Ray" Woolfenden of WPWC Radio for his outstanding help with the parade.
The judges of the parade were: James "Jim" Bishop of Dumfries, Charles Baum, supervisor of Bon's plant and floral center of Dumfries and Phil Mackert, manager of Myers and Hill Real Estate of Dumfries. First and second place winners were awarded trophies.
According to parade chairman Mark Yauss, the Dumfries-Triangle Jaycees (who managed the town parade this year) would like to thank all those who participated in the parade and helped make it a success.Language
