Restoration of Parson Weems' Virginia home and bookstore will be the discussion topic when the Firelands Historical Society meets at 8p.m., Feb. 19, at the Norwalk Senior Center.
Parson Mason Locke Weems, George Washington's biographer, moved into the Bel Air Plantation in 1808 and various parts of the house were built at different times. When purchased by Mr. and Mrs. W>E>S> Flory 1948, the home was in dispair. During the meeting, Mrs. Flory will tell how effected its restoration.
The Historical Society's Kinologists, plan to do research, Feb. 15, at the Hayes Library in Fremont. Members will be meeting at 8:15 a.m. at the United Methodist Church parking lot on W. Main St. and Drive to Fremont in a caravan. Spiegel Grove and the museum will also be open, according to society president Henry E. Timman.
Both events are open to the public.Translator
