Realty Notes from Prince William two centuries ago, compiled
by the Eastern Prince William Chamber of Commerce
Bicentennial Committee.
To be rented and entered upon immediately a well
frequented tavern in the town of Dumfries situate near the
courthouse by Foushee Tebbs.
John Murray to John Shute for 2500 pounds current money
sold because of indebtedness, two lots, 26 and 34 immediately
adjoining lotts of Evan Williams, John Longfitt and Charles
Adams together with a billiard table on the said premises now
in the possession of John Shute 1250 pounds current.
Bernard Gallagher agrees to open an alley three feet wide
adjoining the said Carrs ground...Carr agrees to open an alley
in the east side of the lott of ground. Six ft. wide.
Lots for sale in Dumfries by court decree "which are large
and convenient houses suitable to a genteel family...situate in
a healthy part of town near the court house...are to be sold to
discharge a debt.
Public sale of land on sixth day of October next will be
exposed to public sale at Mr. William McDaniels tavern in
Dumfries a valuable tract of land most pleasantly situated on
banks of Potomac...two miles above mouth of Quantico.
A lot in Dumfries on which are built a strong and commodious
brick dwelling house and a kitchen stable and
granery in the occupancy of Mr. Esme Smock.
To be sold at Mrs. Williams tavern in this place on Saturday
the 28th day of February next on six months credit (the
purchaser giving bond with approved security) two land office
military warrents for 2000 acres of land each - granted to
the late Capt. Fierer deceased (one of the publishers at the
Virginia Gazette and Agricultural Repository)...Also will be
sold the same day at this place: a printing press, a variety of
types, the property of said Charles Fierer.Transcriber
