John F. Pattie, who served as a
Prince William School Board member

simultaneous appointment.
He said, "We were sworn into the
School Board standing side by side
with me. This is a real loss."
Wood continued, "John had a total
interest in the students, teachers,
custodians and everyone. He was
faithful, regular and reliable for his
entire period on the board.
"He didn't make waves; he was a
genuine workhorse for the board. His
is a record of total dedication. There
are so many good things you can say
about John; I feel richer for having
known him all these years."
Besides his work on the School
Board, Mr. Pattie was active in his
church and community.
A member of the Dumfries United
Methodist Church, Mr. Pattie served
on the finance committee, the administrative

the United Methodist Church.

as a member of the Board of Directors
of the Salvation Army.
Mr. Pattie, a former justice of the
peace, served for Jack Klawans Chevrolet.
He had worked for the Chevrolet
organization for at least 39 years and
had been general manager under the
previous ownership of D.J. Martin.
Mr. Pattie is survived by his wife,
Eula M. Pattie; three sisters, Harriett
Beck of Anaheim, Calif., and Bertha

Dumfries United Methodist Church
followed by burial at the Dumfries
Cemetery. The family suggests that
donations be made to the Dumfries
United Methodist Church.
Herbert Saunders, who succeeded
Mr. Pattie on the School Board, said,
"He was a fine Christian man. In all
the years I knew him, I never heard
John say a unkind word to anyone.
You never knew what he thought; no
matter what happened, he kept it to
himself. He was never unpleasant to
anyone."Transcriber
