Context

The Brawner Tourist Home, later known as the Fraley House, is the last remaining Sears-Roebuck house in Dumfries. Built by Warfield Brawner, it was used as a tourist home until his daughter, Jane Brawner, married Ed Fraley. Fraley moved to Dumfries to work at Quantico, and became the first modern town mayor in 1961, reviving the town charter and holding town hall meetings in his parlor for lack of a town hall, and remained mayor until 1970.
