OF PART OF THE TERRITORY KNOWN
AS DUMFRIES MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT
TO THE TOWN OF DUMFRIES
Notice is hereby given under
the provisions of Code of Virginia
sections 15-152.4 and 15-
152.5 that on the 24th day of
January 1962 a petition was filed
by the undersigned in the Circuit
Court of Prince William County
at Manassas, Virginia,asking that
Court to annex the hereinafter
described contiguous territory to
the incorporated Town of Dumfries,
Virginia and stating that
it is desirable that such territory
be so annexed.
The said petition filed as aforesaid
recites that the number
of petitioners signatory thereto
is in excess of fifty one per
centum of the qualified voters
resident in the following described
territory requested to
be annexed:
Beginning at a point where the
easterly line of the U.S. Route
#95 right-of-way intersects the
southwesterly line of Prince Williams
Estates Subdivision; thence
with the easterly right-of-way
line of U.S. Route #95 1,500
feet, 4,500 feet, 1,250 feet, 1,100
feet and 5,250 feet to the intersection
of this line with the centerline
of Dewey's Run; thence
in a southerly direction with the
centerline of Dewey's Run 6,200
feet to the easterly right-of-way
line of U.S. Route #1; thence
with the easterly right-of-way
line of U.S. Route #1 in a north-
easterly direction 10,570 feet;
thence leaving the easterly line
of U. S. Route #1 and with the
top of the ridge through the
property of Cafritz generally approximating
the following courses
and distances: S. 60°E. 1,250
feet. S. 51°E. 1,160 feet, N.
79°E. 1,275 feet, S. 35°E. 1,020
feet, N. 53°30'E. 875.00 feet,
S. 86°30' E. 1,080 feet, S. 44°

450 feet to a point in the westerly
line of the former property
of Freestone Point; thence with
the westerly line of the former
Freestone Point property N. 16°

the mean low water mark on the
south side of Neabsco Creek;
thence with the mean low water
mark on the south side of Neabsco
Creek 8,100 feet to Freestone
Point; thence with the mean low
water mark of the Potomac River
(The Maryland-Virginia Boundary)
11,075 feet to Cockpit Point;
thence continuing with the Maryland-
Virginia Boundary 2,250
feet; thence with the line of the
Virginia Electric and Power
Company's Possum Point Power
Station property 6,150 feet to the
centerline of Virginia Electric
and Power Company right-of-
way and with the centerline of this
right - of - way in a southerly
direction 2,950 feet and 950 feet
to a point on the west side of
Possum Point Road; thence with
the westerly line of Possum Point
Road 2,250 feet to a point in the
mean low water mark of Quantico
Creek; thence with the mean low
water mark of Quantico Creek
15,700 feet; thence with the
centerline extended of a small
creek in a southwesterly direction
6,000 feet to where the
centerline of this creek interline
of the northbound lane of
U. S. Route #1 thence with the
easterly line of the northbound
lane of U. S. Route #1 1,100
feet to the centerline of a right-
of-way for the Virginia Electric
and Power Company; thence with
the centerline of the Virginia
Electric and Power Company
right-of-way in a westerly direction
575 feet to a point in
the westerly right-of-way line
of the southbound lane of U. S.
Route #1; thence with the westerly
right-of-way line of the
southbound lane of U. S. Route
#1 500 feet to where this line
intersects the northerly line of
Prince William Forest Park
thence with the line of Prince
William Forest Park 3,050 feet
to a point in the aforementioned
southwesterly line of Prince
Williams Estates Subdivision;
thence with the southwesterly line
of Prince William Estates Subdivision
430 feet to the point
and place of beginning and containing
11.0 square miles
exclusive of the present Town
of Dumfries Corporate Limits.
Further notice is given that
the undersigned will move the
aforesaid Court on February 21,
1962, or as soon there after as the
matter may be heard, to grant
the annexation requested by said
Petition.
This notice will be published
as required by law once each
week for four successive weeks
in the only newspaper published
in the Town of Dumfries.
