Shipping in old Prince William as described in papers from
the Revolutionary era and prepared by the Eastern Prince
William Bicentennial committee:
For London - the Brigantine Hopewell, now lying at
Quantico on Potomack river will take in tobacco, upon liberty
of consignment at 8 a ton - Richard Graham merchant -
Dumfries.
By decree of the court of vice admiralty will be sold at
Dumfries on Thurs. 6th the Brigantine Britannia. Burthern
about 150 tuns with all her rigging tackle and apparel and
furniture John Tyler - Marshall.
For sale or charter the sloop Agatha now lying in Quantico
Creek well filled and sound, she will carry about 2000 bushels.
The terms may be known from Mr. Wm. Carr. Merchant at
Dumfries or Geo Tebbs.
A charter wanted for the Brigantine Betsy Capt. Brown,
burthen about 270 hogs heads of tobacco. She has a British
register and a Mediterannean pass and is now at Quantico.

Charter wanted for the ship Ann. Capt Huie now at Quantico -
she is a british bottom, has a Mediterannean pass.
Just imported by the subscriber in the Janet from Glasgow
and last vessel's from London and Liverpool. A large
assortment of Dry goods.
Alexander Henderson informs the Lt. Gov. that Capt. - has
taken only 40 chests of the arms on his vessell, 23 yet remain.
Dumfries designated as a port of entry for foreign and U.S.
vessels.
