Biography
Raised on a fish hatchery, Michener currently lives in the Idaho high mountain desert. In mid-life the urge to produce with her hands became a priority and she incorporated her experiences with the natural environment into earthy encaustic paintings. Remote Idaho settings during her childhood provided a laboratory of natural wonders and the freedom to explore. "The energy of plants and animals weaves its way into my art. Working in my garden provides a continual supply of line, texture, color, and shape that I incorporate into my pieces. Paintings wait for my hands to give them form. My art reflects the seasons of nature… ever changing, while predictably constant."
