Biography
Ed and his twin brother, Albert Lee "Al," were born in Butte, Montana and moved to Idaho Falls at age eight. Upon graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1944, Ed served in the U.S. Army. After completing his tour of duty in Japan, Ed returned to Idaho, graduating from Idaho State University in 1950. His art career began in Salt Lake City at Auerbach's Department Store, where he was a fashion coordinator and window decorator.
In 1961 Ed realized his passion for art education and taught at O.E Bell Junior High until it was closed in May of 1981. He then taught at Eagle Rock Junior High, from which he retired in 1989. During his years at the junior high schools, his students consistently took highest honors at the local, regional and state student art shows. Five from Eagle Rock were national winners at the Imagine Yellowstone Art Exhibit.
After some encouragement from artist Gloria Miller Allen, Ed had his first show in 1989 and produced an annual art show thereafter. His last show was a retrospective at TAM in May 2004.
