Biography
Sue Tyler's images reference the Western Landscape: its seasons, light, geology, inhabitants, and history. A native Idahoan, she began exploring the landscape at an early age. In 1983, upon receiving degrees in art and art education in Washington, Tyler settled in Teton Valley, Idaho, and taught high school art for 25 years.
As an advocate for making the arts accessible to everyone, in 2002 she received the Governor's Award for Excellence in Arts Education.
In 2013, she began painting full-time. Tyler paints plein air and studio landscapes in acrylics, watercolor, and mixed media. Her work has shown throughout the Western states, winning awards in state, focal and national shows and plein air events.
Tyler continues to enjoy teaching art and creating partnerships with nonprofit organizations, especially conservation groups, through her art.
