Biography
Grace spent her youth in California, with parents who always encouraged her creative leanings with art supplies every Christmas. She would often pour over Dick Blick magazines every December. Grace majored in Art at BYU-Idaho, where she fell in love with the process of printmaking and the storytelling of illustration. Just before she married, she went on an art tour of Europe organized by the college. Seeing those vast collections of incredible skills continually encourages her to keep creating and learning.
Grace erroneously believed that she needed a printing press to continue printmaking, something which she could not afford immediately after college. At a Comic-Con in Seattle, she met an artist who made prints in her kitchen with a wooden spoon. Thrilled, Grace ordered some supplies and got back to printing and carving during her children's naptimes. After moving to Washington, she joined a Wayzgoose and found other printers who invited me to participate in shows and events.
While she bounces around from illustration, oil painting, and bookbinding, Grace often comes back to print making. It's very motherhood friendly since she can put down her carving tools with no clean up, and enjoys printing with the "kirsh-kirsh" of the ink on the brayer after bedtime.
