Biographical Information

Biography

Born in Kansas, Gloria Miller Allen has lived in Idaho since 1974. She is a lifetime painter whose love of watercolors started in first grade and has grown into a fulltime occupation. A master of transparent watercolor washes, Allen teaches several popular workshops each year throughout the West. Her art education consists primarily of keen observation, many books over many years, and thousands of hours spent painting. Allen considers herself to be self-taught, in that she has had no formal art education since high school; however, she has taken numerous workshops with noted painters. She credits a strong foundation in value structure to the time she spent in the 60s working for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City. She is a signature member of numerous national watercolor societies including the American Watercolor Society. Allen was instrumental in the completion of the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho in 2002. Her work is represented in galleries in the west and southeast. She is also the co-author of the recently published book, Clever Endeavors.
