Biography

Born in Evanston, Illinois, Mel Edmondson was taught early on by her artist-mother who studied at The Art Institute of Chicago. In addition to earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1987, she also studied art at the Leo Marchutz School of Art in Aix-en-Provence, France in the 1980s. Edmondson has additional degrees in French Language and Secondary Education. Although she primarily works in watercolor, she teaches a variety of other art media including drawing, painting, and ceramics in the classroom as a highschool art instructor. Edmondson has traveled extensively and lived in Europe and the Hawaiian Islands. A long time resident of eastern Idaho, she and her family recently relocated to Tennessee. Although landscapes are the predominant theme in her work, she explores various subjects in her artwork.
