Biography
After a few years of honing her skills with the local Colored Pencil Society, Idaho artist Margie Zirker directed her creative energies to painting with acrylics, delighting in swathing a canvas with the intense colors acrylic paint offers. Pastel tones rarely figure in her paintings. Deep reds, phlylo blue, hunter green, and cadmiums are favorites. She is consistently drawn to painting an unseen reality behind the physical realism of a scene or figure, resulting in symbolic treatment, vivid colors and expressive outcomes in her work. She served as Gallery Director at the Carr Gallery and has taught art to children for more than twenty years. Presently she is the Museum outreach art teacher for local Head Start units. The Head Start students require all the teaching skills and creativity she has acquired over the years and is delighted to be inspired by them. Occasionally, she mentors private art students.
