Biography
Sally was born and raised in Idaho. She recalls the first artwork she did; a crayon painting of a yellow duck in a blue pond with a red barn and a green tree that she made in the 1st grade. Her greatest lessons are taught and learned in her studio that resides on the top floor of her home.
She attended Ricks College, Brigham Young University where she received her Bachelors in Art and the University of Idaho where she obtained her Masters in Adult Education. Her passion for teaching and the Adult Motto “Life Long Learning” radiates in her daily regime. In 1997, Sally was invited to instruct part time at Brigham Young University- Idaho, a perfect position for her.
Ellis is married to Dr. Jay T Ellis a Dr. of Physical Therapy. They have lived in most of the Western United States; the furthest she has traveled is to China with Dr. Ellis while he worked with the Chinese Olympic team. Dr. Ellis and Sally have a playful and happy family of three children and enjoy the peace that brings in their life.
Sally likes the element of surprise, and looks for these things in her artwork. Her values in life center on those things that inspire and are majestic. Life in Idaho is just that. She lives under the shadow cast by the morning sunrise of the Grand Tetons. She is a high country backpacker where Sally obtains resources and creates plein air paintings.
