Biography
Raised in rural Montana near the Yellowstone River, Cherry developed an interest in western art at an early age due, in part, to her parents’ love of western artist Charlie Russell. Cherry recalls her father always sketching horses and rattlesnakes for her until her mother put a paintbrush in her hand at age eight.
Cherry went on to study art, with an emphasis on life drawing, at Eastern Montana College in Billings, and Bemidji State University in Minnesota. She is a member of the Western Artists of America, Women Artists of the West as a Master Signature, and has a Signature status in the Pastel Society of America. She also belongs to the local groups Gallery 12 and the Snake River Plein Air Painters in Idaho Falls. She was president of the Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies. Cherry works in both her home studio and a downtown studio at WAC Studios above the Art Council in Idaho Falls.
