Biography
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1942, Browning’s childhood was filled with change. She moved four times before her family settled at her grandmother’s farm in Teton. Her formal art training began at the University of Utah where she studied painting under LeConte Stewart. She later moved to Idaho Falls where she quickly joined the Eagle Rock Art Guild. She also helped found the Bonneville Art Association. Due to the local interest in, Browning soon began teaching art classes from her basement.
Though Browning’s works are often distinguished by her still lifes and local country scenes, she also traveled to Europe with the Rick College Interior Design class, visiting England three times. There she had the opportunity to paint churches, the countryside, and moors. With the same group, she later visited France to see the Eiffel Tower.
While Browning knows not everyone has the ability to draw, she does believe that everyone has talent. She said, “You’re born with talents. Some are singing, some are speaking, some are painting, some are athletics. Everybody has a talent, if they can discover what it is. Some can take photographs, some have a talent for writing. There are so many talents people are born with.”
