Biography
Olaf Carl Seltzer was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. When Seltzer was 12, he went to the Danish Polytechnic Institute, a preparatory school for the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. At the age of 14 he and his mother emigrated to the United States and settled in Great Falls, Montana. Seltzer worked as a machinist for the railway. A chance encounter with Charles M Russell gave him the opportunity to become a working artist. Seltzer is known for his paintings depicting the "Old West."
