Biography

Paul Zarzyski is a contemporary cowboy and rodeo poet. He collaborated with Theodore Waddell to create a Suite of Poems which included 10 original woodcuts by Theodore Waddell and 10 poems from himself. Zarzyski was born on May 25, 1951 and grew up in Hurley, Wisconsin. He received his Masters of Fine Arts Degree in creative writing in the min 1970’s from the University of Montana. While he pursued his passion for poetry, he also participated in his love of bareback bronco riding, where he competed on the amateur ProRodeo and Senior circuits into his early forties. Zarzyski performed at the annual National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko Nevado for the past 30 years. His poetry blends the grit of ranch life and rodeo with literary sophistication, humor, spirituality, and reflections on morality.
