Blue-and-White Porcelain Dragon Bowl with Auspicious Emblems and Qianlong Mark
Entry/Object ID
CR0104
Description
Chinese blue-and-white porcelain bowl painted externally with sinuous dragons emerging through dense stylized clouds above a band of cresting waves. The interior is decorated with ribboned auspicious emblems arranged around a central medallion. The underside bears a six-character Qianlong seal mark, 大清乾隆年製, considered apocryphal and consistent with the bowl's historicizing decorative character. The combination of dragons, clouds, waves and auspicious emblems creates a traditional symbolic program of celestial authority, prosperity and good fortune.
