Entry/Object ID

Description

Item 19 of 24, part of a specialized Chinese Zodiac / Auspicious Animals set. In Chinese art and sculpture, horses are highly symbolic, and their postures are deliberately chosen to represent opposing but complementary cosmic energies. Paired with item #3817. The Yin is depicted in a steady, four-legged, grounded stance, with its front leg slightly bent forward. In Chinese iconography, a calm, grounded animal represents Yin. It symbolizes stability, receptivity, patience, and the nurturing energy of the earth. The color pattern anchors the piece visually, with the darker, deep chocolate-brown bands dominating the front chest and shoulders. The ribbons of brown, tan, amber, and cream are created by folding together different colors of molten glass before shaping. This gives them that distinct "tortoiseshell" or agate-stone look.
