This hand-carved wooden statue depicts Shou Lee (Shouxing), the traditional Taoist God of Longevity. He is one of the three popular stellar deities known collectively as the Sanxing (Fu, Lu, and Shou). The figure is detailed with an oversized, elongated cranium representing wisdom, a joyful expression, and a long, flowing beard signifying old age. He wears traditional draped robes and stands on an integrated, low-profile, geometrically carved base. In his hands, he grasps a tall, crooked staff or cane, a classical symbol of dignity and reverence for the elderly.Type of Sculpture
