Description
Reddish-brown unglazed zisha-type stoneware teapot of rounded tripod form, raised on three short feet and fitted with a domed cover surmounted by a sculptural animal-form finial. One side is decorated in black with a crane among flowering or pine-like vegetation, while the reverse bears a calligraphic inscription including a prominent character 清, accompanied by smaller inscriptions and seals. Square multi-character seal-script mark impressed to the underside, with two additional impressed marks beneath the cover. China, probably 20th century; potter and decorator presently unidentified
