Widgeon
This boat was ordered directly from Cliffe Craft by David Shurtleff. He had the boat built for his wife Posie, parents of Jon Shurtleff.
The "Widgeon" was one of the first boats that Charlie built as a lapstrake design. He switched to lapstrake because cedar strip was being gradually phased out for bigger boats and Cliffe Craft had to compete with bigger brands like Lyman, Chris-Craft and Grew.
The lapstrake design is a stronger construction in comparison to smooth skin. They can also hold a a larger motor with more horsepower, translating to bigger boats capable of carrying more.
This was the first boat that Cliffe Craft built from scratch from the ground up, designed by Charlie Cliffe himself.Collection
