Description

Walley School on North Road Built probably around 1880, this building was used until consolidation in 1958. About 1914, 2 diamond shaped windows were built into the front of the school, one on each side of the door. These windows served as a trademark for this school from that time on. The Walley School still stands, and is used as a private home (as of Oct. 2005) Pearl Homes Tabler was the teacher from about 1910-1914. Gladys Newman Roth taught from 1917-1919 and Teresa "Tess" McTernan taught there for 43 years. All told, Miss McTernan taught for 62 consecutive years in Grundy County.
