NASH ISLAND LIGHT
Constructed in.1838, the 51-foot light tower on Little Nash Island (not pictured) was the fifth light built in Washington County, the 33rd in Maine. Nash Island Light was reconstructed in 1873. Until it was replaced by an automatic light buoy in 1958, this light guided the many lobster boats to and from Addison and Jonesport, from its site at the mouth of Pleasant Bay. There is no longer a keeper's living space so it is not called a "lighthouse", but one did exist before 1873. JCB
