HAMILTON HOUSE
This Italianate style home at 78 South Street was built about 1870. The original owner, Mr. Hamilton, owned a ship supply store on Main Street in Calais. The house has two stories with a cupola above. The denticulated cornice is supported by ornate paired brackets; these are also seen on the front porch. The Hamilton House has heavy wooden quoins and paired windows in front with denticulated lintels. AFN
