HILL BUILDING
Abner, David and Horatio Hill had this Greek Revival style building constructed in 1847. The gambrel roof is not a common feature of nineteenth-century architecture, though it was still used in commercial buildings to span large spaces. This building was perhaps best known for its painted advertisement on the front: "Dr. Thompsons Sarsparilla Cures when others fail." It is built of brick with a denticulated cornice. AFN
