From Sunrise County Architecture (2nd revised and enlarged edition) 1996, p.40:
GEORGE HATCH HOUSE
Lieutenant Colonel George Kendall Hatch purchased the property for his home in 1858. Construction began about 1860, and the house was completed while Lieutenant Colonel Hatch was away at the Civil War. This Gothic Revival House is a good example of Andrew Jackson Downings cottage plans of the 1850s. It is one and one-half stories high and has eight gables with scroll-saw barge detail. Decorative woodwork is also seen on the bay window and window lintels. The house has a one story porch with arched woodwork. The Hatch family continues to own the house. AFN
