DR. BEST HOUSE
Dr. Charles H. Best, the co-discoverer of insulin (1921) was born in this house on February 27, 1899. This two and one-half story wooden frame building has a gable roof with the gable end facing the street. The house has distinctive features of the vernacular Greek Revival style, and was probably built around 1845-1850. The Italianate bay window is a later addition. The Best house has a one and one-half story wing, and is situated in West Pembroke. AFN, FAB
