RAWSON SCHOOL
William C. Bowker was the architect and builder of this Italianate style school house on Bruce Street. This gabled roof structure was completed in 1871, and has ornate wooden lintels over the windows and doors, similar to those on the Whitneyville Congregational Church. At its dedication it was named in honor of the Reverend Silas B. Rawson, the supervisor of schools in Machias. AFN
