FOSTER HOUSE George Harris Foster owned a planing mill in Machias, and married another daughter of William Pennell. This mansard house was also given as a wedding present from Mr. Pennell, and was built by Andrew Gilson, and stands next to the Andrew Gilson homestead on North Street. It was completed in 1869, and is almost identical in plan to the Gilson House. The Foster House has a denticulated cornice with decorative woodwork, ornate window and doorJintels, and a two story projection in front. AFN
