From Sunrise County Architecture (2nd revised and enlarged edition) 1996, p.69:
JOSEPH LIBBY HOUSE
Standing by the Libby Brook near the Machias-Machiasport line is this Federal style home. It was also a Porter homestead for a while, as Rufus K. Porter bought it in an auction in 1848. It was occupied for a time by Charles W. Porter, Clerk of Courts in Machias. The house was probably first owned by Joseph Libby and built about 1820-1830. The house has a wide louvred fan over the door, hipped roof with end chimneys, and is two stories high. It stands on Route 92. AFN
