CLARK PERRY HOUSE
Standing on Court Street is this Italianate residence built for Clark D. Perry in 1868. Clark Perry was born in Machias, and was a very successful businessman in the lumber and shipping industries. Much of the lumber for the house came from Perrys own business, and Haskell Preble of Machias was the master builder. The house has a gable roof with a jerkin head on the front of the house, the cross-gable wing, and the dormers. The front portico has elaborate wood detail which is repeated in the bay window. The windows have peaked lintels, and the cornice is supported by paired brackets. The house has a one and one-half story wing in back and a gabled roof bam. FAB, AFN, JCB
