This two and half wood frame federal style house was built in 1806 by Samuel Wheeler and occupied by him until his death. He and Aaron Hayden were both deacons of the Calvanistic Baptist church, and were both presidents of the Frontier Bank the former succeeding the latter. Largely by their aid the Washington Street Baptist Church was built, and the society removed to it from the old church on High street. Afterwards the house became the property and home of Bion Bradbury while collector of the district, and was changed by the substitution of a pitched roof, and it has been still further modernized and extended by its present owner Charles Jackson. The house has a five bay front with a center doorway, It has a later rear addition and a later added partially enclosed porch on the east side of the house. The chimneys have been removed.

Crossing again to the north side we come to the house built in 1806 by Samuel Wheeler, and occupied by him until his death. He and Aaron Hayden were both deacons of the Calvanistic Baptist church, and were both presidents of the Frontier Bank the former succeeding the latter. Largely by their aid the new church on Washington street was built, and the society removed to it from the old church on High street. I officiated as groomsman when the daughter of the house was married to my playmate. Afterwards the house became the property and home of Bion Bradbury while collector of the district, and was changed by the substitution of a patch[?typo, “pitch”] roof, and it has been still further modernized and extended by its present owner Charles Jackson.
