Ross-Murchie House, c. 1890 - C 12 Calais Avenue The Ross-Murchie House is a two-a~d-a-half-story, two-bay frame dwelling which is covered by a hip roof. Its west elevation features two pairs of six-over-six windows on ,each story and a centrally-located dormer. A hip roofed, one-story porch extends across the north elevation, and a second dormer punctuates the roof. There are two large interior chimneys and a rear ell. The porch and dormers are said to have been added in 1928. There is a hip roofed, two-stall garage located to the northeast of the house. This dwelling is believed to have been built in 1890 for Henry B. Ross, owner of the Ross Brothers store. Sometime later it was occupied by Maine Chief Justice Harold H. Murchie.
