1 Hayes Avenue, Eastport, Maine | I7-0D3-04 | District #13Entry/Object ID
013Description
This two and a half story wood frame house was built between 1898 and 1903. Not shown on 1898 Sanborn Insurance Map. Is shown on 1903 Sanborn Insurance map. The house was built after a much larger older lot was divided in thirds in 1893 resulting in this house along with neighboring Capen and Coburn houses. It is the only house on the short one block long side street of Hayes Avenue running between two principal residential streets, Shackford and Key Streets. The house has a gable roof that slopes down over the first floor one story front porch that fronts onto Hayes Avenue. House may have been a mail order catalog house and it is nearly identical to a house located at 162 Water Street in Eastport that dates to the same time period. Pediment roof.
