( ) From Eastport Sentinel, June 27, 1894, p.3,c.2: “One of the handsomest pieces of decorative furniture that has been seen in this city for some time, is exhibited at the Loring Studio, it being an art screen the frame of which of white and gold, is the design and work of Mr. C.E. Brown, one of several that he has busied himself in making during hours not occupied with the regular photographic business of the studio. The three panels of the screen are elegant paintings from the brush of Mrs. M.S. Waide, of charmingly arranged and magnificent bouquets of chrysanthemums, depicted all in their natural colors and shades, as only nature or the painstaking, observant student of her ways with an eye to guide and a clever hand to execute, could reproduce. The whole a thing of beauty and excellence in all its parts, will be a most dainty ornament for parlor or drawing room.” ( ) From Eastport Sentinel, July 24, 1895, p.2,c.5: “Mrs. C.E. Brown, Mrs. E.S. Waide, and Miss Nelie Loring are passing the present week at Grand Manan.” ( ) From Eastport Sentinel, August 19, 1896, p.3,c.3: “The two days fair by the members of the Unitarian society was a wonderful success socially and financially, netting the church about $400. The China painted by our artist, Mrs. E.S. Waide was beautiful and found ready purchasers. The exquisite fancy work vanished all too soon, so that few had a chance even to see it. ....” ( ) From Eastport Sentinel, December 22, 1897, p.3,c,4: (adverstisement inserted in local news column): “Mrs. E.S. Waide has hand painted china suitable for Christmas or wedding presents, or[?typo, “for”] sale at her home, North End. 2w” ( ) From Eastport Sentinel, December 22, 1897, p.3,c.5: “The handsome fire screen, painted by Mrs. E.S. Waide, and valued at $75, which has been on exhibition at Mildon’s Variety Store for the past month or two, has become the property of Miss Nina Lovell. The screen was disposed of by tickets and Miss Lovell holding the lucky ticket, it passed to her for an outlay of eight cents.” ( ) From Eastport Sentinel, December 7, 1898, p.6,c.2: “Mrs. E.S. Waide will have an exhibition and sale of hand painted china, at the house [?missing word, “of”] Geo. C. Loring on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 14 and 15, afternoon and evening.” Eastport Sentinel, December 21, 1898, p.3: The exhibition and sale of hand painted china given by Mrs. E.S. Waide at the home of her brother Geo. C. Loring, last Wednesday and Thursday was largely attended, and many pieces of the handsome decorated ware found their way to the homes of purchasers, while those who did not buy feasted their eyes on the beautiful painted articles, any of which would enhance the value of any connoisseur's collection of art china. Eastport Sentinel, August 9, 1911, p.2: Mrs. E. S. Waide entertained a whist party of five tables at her home on Tuesday afternoon, in honor of her sister, Miss Cornelia M.
