Mr. Townsley was an aide-de-camp to General Washington and was responsible for giving Plantation Number Four the name Steuben. This two and onehalf story wooden clapboarded home has two end chimneys and a steeply pitched gable roof. The house sits on the north side of Route One and overlooks Steuben. AFN
